I’m sure you have heard this saying before, “To err is human and to forgive divine. “

At some point in our lives every single one of us, has had something hurtful, painful, or unfair happen to us. I’m sure that there has been a time in your life that you can recall where someone did something to you which really hurt you, or made you very angry and caused you a lot of pain?  Whatever it may be; and whoever it was, I’m sure that you’ll never forget the way that person made you feel when they said these things to you, and maybe they’ve done it on more than one occasion. However, I want to give you a couple of tips today on how to do two things: to Give and to Forgive.

We all make mistakes, even though we may think that we don’t. I want you to consider a couple of things:

Can you take the time to put yourself in the other person’s shoes?

Try to understand their past.  A person cannot give away what’s not inside of them. People, who are full of love, can only give love. People who are full of pain can only give pain to others. So try to put yourself into their shoes. The reason why I suggest this is it may help you see the world through their eyes, which leads us to compassion.

If you really knew what they were going through, you would understand that they are doing the best they can, from their level of awareness at that time. I am also talking about people who do terribly violent things, or violate the rights of others, commit terrible crimes, whatever it may be. They are doing the best from their level of awareness, and their circumstances have brought them to that level of awareness. If you can see it from their point of view, you might feel sympathy or compassion for them, and maybe understand it from their point of view. This may not sound like something you want to hear, or something that you even want to believe, but this is the truth.

Forgiveness is something that we do for ourselves.

It’s not an act of condoning a person’s behaviour if they have hurt you or done you wrong. Forgiveness is freeing ourselves from the past which is holding us back to move freely into the future with more, Success, Happiness, Better Health, and Love. For us to have more of those things in our lives, we need to really be free of any kind of negative emotion or vibration that’s going on. We need to totally release all hurt and anger that is related to that person so that we don’t carry any negative residue from the past.  We need to actively, deliberately and intentionally forgive anyone who has done us wrong. I know that it is a lot easier said than done, so here are a few tips.

Forgiveness is a spiritual practice.  It is not something you do one day and everything is resolved.  It is something that you do several times with the intention to let that issue go, knowing it is in the past which you cannot change and acknowledging that it is interfering in your present and that is creating your future.

What can you do going forward?

In the next few weeks, if you could just think of anyone who has wronged you or any situation that’s hurt, and intentionally release that anger or pain. Meditate on it, write a letter if you need to and burn it afterwards. Take active steps to release that from your vibration and from your past.

Give more and expect less.  Take any situation like making someone a cup of tea, offer kindness even where you feel people don’t really deserve it.  Give more love.

By giving and forgiving a little bit more, we can possess these divine qualities, which can make us a better person. You will start feeling a whole lot more love and happiness and you will attract more of it into your life.  You will have this feeling of more appreciation for everything and everybody.

My friends, have a wonderful day and God bless.
